Aaron Access, a specialist multi-skilled gate automation and access control company has recently completed an installation of new roller shutters at a rail depot for Network Rail.
The company was contacted by Network Rail to attend one of its Crewe sites which had four new manual single-skin roller shutters installed at its depot.
The existing shutters were defective, allowing heat to escape and due to the time it was taking for the shutters to open and close, causing heat loss within the building and infestation to take place.
To address this, Aaron Access engineers scoped the works and recommended replacing all four shutters with new insulated, electrically operated shutters.
Two of the shutters had forklift truck access so Aaron Access recommended remote control access using handheld transmitters.
The team’s scope also included running the power from the main distribution board to each opening totalling over 250m of conduit and cabling to isolators adjacent to each opening.
All works were completed within agreed timescales, with Network Rail extremely satisfied with the results.
Discussing the project, Aaron Access Director Chris Cunningham said:
“Replacing these roller shutters at Network Rail’s site in Crewe means the depot will now have improved insulation, leading to significant energy and cost savings as well as a better, warmer working environment for staff. This project is another example of Aaron Access’s installation expertise and demonstrates our consultative approach, working with the client to source the best and most cost-effective solution for their access needs.”
